My problem with Switching Social and its efforts, is not that it isn't helpful to those looking to rid themselves of Google, etc. but rather that it makes assumptions about what to list and what qualifies. Their browser options for example are a good example. If you think that Firefox and derivatives of it are the only solutions, you are being hugely misinformed.

It is a pain sometimes ensuring graphical compliance with applications on Linux. VMware Workstation is a big one. You have to find the solution off of StackExchange instead of their own support channels.

Android's midi implementation seems rather robust. I wonder why there aren't more apps taking advantage of it?

What worries me most about becoming fully reliant on foss software is how susceptible to errant political extremes it is. Mastodon is an excellent example of this.

This is why violently opposing them only gives their pathetic cause more attention that it wouldn't normally get. Also if violence is the answer, then the subjective nature of people's rational is given a free pass to drive opinion and discussion using fear.

Feeling a little down? Need a pick me up? Aces High - Iron Maiden makes just about everything better.

Serious question: would you use software, if the person responsible for creating it supported and promoted a group of people who stifle free speech and resort to violence and intimidation to accomplish their political ends even though the software was open source and FOSS?

@elementary One thing I especially love about Elementary OS, is that applications actually open in the same state as they were closed. This means my browser does not need to be resized or un-maximized, like it does on every other Linux distro I've tried. It's the little things!

Have you been thinking about making an app for the Librem 5 but didn't know where to start?

I wrote a tutorial blog post for getting started with designing apps for GNOME mobile (and desktop too).

Toxy ZR. More difficult to ride than I thought but I'm making solid progress and loving it. This thing is fantastic!

"We have enormous freedom. That’s not a gift that was given to us, it’s a legacy that was left to us by centuries of struggle. By centuries of people that most of whose names are completely forgotten, the ones who created the freedom and the rights we now have, and that will be taken away unless you constantly defend them."

Handbrake pre-neutering would work as well. Need it for Windows.

This is kind of a shot in the dark but does anyone have a link to dvdshrink before they removed it's ability to remove DRM? I'm trying to finally back up my DVD collection and put them in storage.

Does anyone know if development on Mastodon plans to create more robust media repository options? (ie: sort Media in albums, etc.) In my mind this is one of the major things needed to completely invalidate FB. Being able to share toots to groups would be the other major thing. So close. 😍
